New Orleans - Mayor Mitch Landrieu is in the nation's capital for a 2-day visit that includes lunch with President Obama.
Landrieu arrived in Washington DC Wednesday morning, headed for the White House. There, he joined a delegation of U.S. officials for a luncheon honoring British Prime Minister David Cameron, who is visiting the nation's capital with his wife.
Landrieu's trip also includes meetings with State Department officials on plans for a cultural conference New Orleans is hosting in May. The World Cultural Economic Forum will include mayors and leaders from around the world who will focus on culture as an effective tool to spur innovation.
On Thursday, the mayor will meet with leaders of five cities, chosen along with New Orleans, to participate in the Obama administration's "Strong Cities, Strong Communities" program.
